Cordless Power Tool Extras – The smaller siblings of the power tool world!
This is just a quick article about all the smaller cordless power tools out there, that can be just as useful as their more productive bigger brothers!
I’m talking about all the smaller cordless products available, depending on the brand you use, like Torches, Fans, Radios and USB Chargers out there that all compliment the standard interchangeable batteries and chargers that you already own.
When shopping for your cordless “one battery fits all” power tools, these items aren’t at the top of the list, and probably not on the list at all. But they should be. Cordless Tools like the Radio and Fan are a bit more of a luxury workshop item and nice to have around, but their are definite times we all wish we had picked up a Torch and USB Charger when doing our hardware shopping.
Each one of these smaller tools has it’s place not only in the workshop, but also just in general around the home, and especially if you like out door activities like camping.
I’ll just go over 4 examples from the Ozito Power X Change Range because Ozito is what I use in my home workshop, but everything I mention is relevant to your own personal preference in regards to power tool brands.
Benefits of Cordless Extras
The obvious benefits of the Smaller Cordless Power Tool range are really when going out and working on a job site. That’s great for the professional tradesman, but are their benefits for the Home Handyman and DIY Woodworker in owning a set of these accessories.
YES! Absolutley. And not only in the workshop.
We all different set-ups and living circumstances, but for me, these products are an especially handy idea. All 4 of these products are great when just spending time outside with the family. It may be as simple as just having a BBQ, but by not having to plug things in life automatically becomes a whole lot simpler.
Now think about how much use all these products would have if you went out camping.
I’m not going to go into all the benefits of each individual product. If you think about it the benefits become pretty obvious. And if you need more info on any of the products just click on the images below.
I’ll just finish up saying that I live on acreage and we have a few blackouts each year… I’m sure you can imagine how handy these things are when there is no power in the house!

18V Workshop Radio
18V Portable Fan

Hi Steve,
I can confirm that as a professional handyman who recently purchased a new set of cordless power tools, it was these “convenience” tools that became the deciding factor. Knowing that I could use the batteries from my toolset in other applications made the difference in which company I decided to go with.
I agree, these extra tools are super handy to have around.
So as a professional handyman which Brand did you go with? My brother loves the Ryobi gear.
Great article.
When i was doing colorbond fencing we used DeWalts, cant really knock them too much when you consider the price. Always had a few batterys on back up! Having interchangables these days is a must!
I recently had to buy a cheap electric hand sander. I bought Ozito and it did the job perfectly fine with no trouble. The Ozito sander package came with several sanding disks and other items that made using the cheap sander relatively easy.
Thanks Steve. Convinced!
Does anyone know where to get the 18v Ozito fan now? Can’t seem to find one anywhere 🙁
That’s interesting, it doesn’t even show on the Bunnings website anymore.
