Ozito Brushless Drill Driver Review

ozito brushless drill

The New Ozito Brushless Drill Driver is out now

The brand new Brushless Drill Driver skin in the Ozito Power X Change 18V range is now available at Bunnings.

This cordless drill is high quality, and an affordable entry into brushless power and technology for all home handymen and DIY’ers out there.

Benefits of Brushless Technology

Now I’m no expert in brushless motor technology so here’s the word from the professionals on the major benefits of brushless motor technology:

Brushless motor technology eliminates friction and wear for more efficient operation. It also provides a longer run time, more power and a cooler motor.

Brushless motors have 4 times the amount of power generating components meaning more torque for powering into tough materials. Made of steel and copper instead of wearable brushes, brushless motors generate less heat and friction for longer life and are more durable. As friction is reduced, brushless motors run cooler and more efficiently enabling longer battery run time.

In comparison to the Ozito PXDDS-200 Cordless Drill Driver

Just by looking at the image below you can immediately see that the new brushless version is smaller in physical size than the PXDDS-200 Cordless Drill. Weight-wise it feels about the same in your hand. The official specifications state that both products are 1.1kg without the battery.

However, don’t be fooled by size alone. This product definately feels more powerful. I did a test where I pushed through a few 100mm 10g screws into pine and hardwood, using the same battery, and set at the highest torque setting on each model, and there was a definite noticeable difference in the power.

Features of the PXBDS-220

Apart from the increase in power, the thing I love about this model is the 13mm METAL Keyless Chuck. Yes METAL. I wish more drills had this higher quality feature like this one has. This chuck feels like being back in my apprentice days. There were no plastic chucks back then.

The other features apart from Brushless Motor and 13mm Metal Chuck, are all pretty standard.

  • 2 Speed Gear Box
  • 21 Torque Settings
  • Variable Speed Trigger
  • Forward / Reverse
  • LED Light
  • Belt Clip

Conclusion

It’s hard doing a review of yet another cordless drill. There are just so many to choose from now in the market place, and at the end of the day, they all basically do the same thing… drill holes and drive screws.

The reasons I would seriously consider this product over any other, if you are into DIY work are:

  1. Brushless Motor – This gives you more power, an plus extended life for your drill.
  2. Price – At $99 This is very affordable for a good quality brushless power tool.
  3. 5 Year Replacement Warranty – Ozito stand by their products with this kind of warranty. No company can stay in business by replacing power tools all the time.
  4. High Quality – In my opinion this new Ozito “Red” Power X Change range is great DIY power tool quality. It’s made in Germany and feels solid and just right in your hands.

Good article…I just purchased my first brushless drill. The DIY tool supplier sector is interesting and Einhell (Germany AG) is a big player at the table. In the UK they supply ALDI with Workzone branded tools and under the Parkside brand – to Lidl.

Down under Einhell (Aust) supply ALDI with Workzone – and Bunnings with Ozito. From what I know ??? Einhell bought out Ozito specifically to gain access to Bunnings.
