Ozito Cordless Drill Driver – Power X Change
When it comes to must-have power tools, the cordless drill must be at the top of everyone’s list. This is by far the one power tool that gets used on almost every single job. Whether it be for drilling holes or driving / removing screws the cordless drill is definitely the handiest tool to have lying around.
Ozito’s New Power X Change Series
The PXDDS-200 Cordless Drill is part of Ozito’s Power X Change series, that is their “one battery fits all” power tool concept. The battery is interchangeable between all the power tools in the series, so there is no need to pay more for each tool with its own battery and charger.
The power tool itself is referred to as a “skin“, meaning that it doesn’t come with a battery included. However you only need to buy one set of batteries and one charger to compliment all the power tool skins you own.
The 18V Cordless Power X Change range includes:
- Drill Driver
- Impact Driver
- Angle Grinder
- Jigsaw
- Reciprocating Saw
- Sander
- Worklight
Plus
- 7 Power Garden Products
- 2 Batteries
- 2 Chargers
- 2 Battery & Charger Kits
- 4 Extras
Check out the complete range on the the Ozitio Power X Change website.
What comes in the box
Without the battery, there really isn’t too much in the box itself. Just the basics.
- Drill Driver Skin
- Instruction Manual
- Optional Belt Clip
Ozito Cordless Drill Features
The Ozito Power X Change Cordless Drill Driver comes with all the standard features you would expect in a quality product these days.
- 10mm Keyless Chuck
- 23 Torque Settings
- Variable Speed Trigger
- LED Light
- 2 Speed Gearbox
- Forward / Reverse
My First Impressions
For a DIY product, this Cordless Drill feels like a nice, solid unit. At 1.1kg plus the battery, it doesn’t feel heavy at all.
The unit has a good quality chuck that holds your drill bits firmly in place. I experimented with a range of drill bit sizes up to 10mm, drilling into some hardwood and the chuck held firm.
Also driving and removing a range of different size screws also proved no problem for this power tool. This motor has a bit of grunt and should do most jobs without any difficulty at all.
5 Year Replacement Warranty
Another feature of Ozito Products is their Replacement Warranty.
The PXDDS-200 Cordless Drill Driver is covered by a 5 Year Replacement Warranty on purchase.
I have a few Ozito products ( electric planer, chainsaw sharpener, bench grinder ) in my home workshop, and have never needed to take advantage of the warranty that comes with each product. But it does give me a lot of peace of mind that the warranty is available if ever there was a problem.
Final Verdict on the Ozito Cordless Drill Driver
I have had the Ozito Cordless Drill now for only a week and spent the weekend trying to put it through its paces.
I’m very happy with the quality of this drill driver, and it is now replacing my old Bosch, that just isn’t doing the job any more.
For a DIY Power Tool, I believe you can’t go wrong with this product. It would make absolutely no sense for a Do-It-Yourself weekend worker to spend your hard earned money on a more expensive brand name when this Drill Driver has more than enough power and features to get through any weekend project you may have to tackle.
At $49.95 plus the replacement warranty as extra peace of mind, you should seriously consider adding this Ozito Cordless Drill to your toolbox.
Lets not forget the Battery
As I mentioned above, the Cordless Drill, just like all the tools in the Power X Change range, is just a Skin that requires a separate battery. But you only need to buy the one battery and charger and use it across the complete range.
I have the Ozito Power X Change 18V Li-Ion Battery And Charger Pack. The Pack includes:
- Fast Charger
- 3.0AH Battery
- 1.5AH Battery
- Plus Instruction Manuals
The Power X Change Fast Charger
I didn’t set a timer to test just how fast the Fast Charger is. But I did plug it in to charge the 3.0Ah Battery and then left the workshop for a while.
I was expecting the battery to be fully charged in about 2 hours, but when I returned to the workshop to get something, which was within 1 hour, I noticed the Green Light was on and the battery was already charged.
If I would have read the Instruction Manual, I would have noticed that it does mention Battery Charge Times:
- 1.5AH Battery = 30 minutes
- 3.0Ah Battery = 60 minutes
- 5.2Ah Battery = 105 minutes
So do I think it is fast? Yes I do. It’s fast enough for me.
The Power X Change Batteries
As I mentioned above the Ozito Charger & Battery Pack comes with 2 18V Li-ion batteries.
But the feature I love about these batteries is the Charge Indicator, that shows how much charge you still have.
I have seen this feature in the more expensive brands, so it’s nice to see has been included for the DIY market.
If you’re in the market for a new cordless drill, get your hands on one of these new Power X Change units. There is already quite a large range of other power tools available to interchange your battery with, and I’m sure the range will keep growing.
Ive got a 3 ah battery and looking to buy the detail sander. But the sander doesn’t look to take that bigger battery ? What say you guys ?
Hi Grant,
The Ozito site shows that in the new Power X Change range there are a 3.0Ah, 4.0AH and a 5.2AH LI-ION batteries available:

Hope that helps.
Steve
Cheers Steve. Thats answered my question then
I have s cordless drill driver 18V Li-ion and was surprised when I charged it and was ready to go to work there were no drill bits! Is this normal?
Hi Robyn,
Yes that’s normal. Driver bits and drill bits you need to buy separately.
Hi Steve I have a older model oz drill will my batteries fit the new model blower
Hi Nev,
The new Power Xchange range won’t work with the older batteries. Sorry.
I have just bought a Ozito 18v power x change compact drill driver kit and it came with a 2.0 Ah battery.
I already have a Ozito blower with a power x change 5.2 Ah battery.
Can I use either battery on either tool?
Hi Greg,
It’s not the capacity of the battery that stops it interchanging on power tool skins, it’s the voltage that makes the difference. If both tools are 18V and both your batteries are 18V then it should be OK. Plus if they are both Power X Change, then definitely OK.
Cheers
Steve
Hi Steve , if its an X change tool then any X change battery will fit it.
The only exception is that the X change sander will only take the smaller battery of 2.00 Ah and below . It won’t take the 3.00 Ah battery only because the battery is higher and won’t fit in the space . I think the sander is the only x change tool affected by that anomalie.
I nearly got caught out by that despite OZITO assuring me that it would fit. So I took my 3.00 ah battery into Bunnings and showed them that it wouldn’t fit. OZITO wouldn’t reply to me after that. ha ha. Anyway mate , your good to go !
Cheers – Grant. – NZ
Sorry mate , I meant Greg
Thanks Grant, and yes you’re absolutely right!
I have the sander and the small battery is the only one that fits in the tiny space in between the handle and dust collector.
Also the Power X Change Sander website does say: “Compatible with all Ozito Power X Change batteries”.
I’ll let the guys at Ozito know and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks again Greg….. sorry I meant Grant 🙂
