These films make you feel amazed, inspired and envious
I recently watched a short film called “Turns” , which is about master woodturner Steven Kennard. Watching the film creates one of those moments when you are all at once inspired, amazed and envious of the talent and passion some people possess.
I especially love anything that shows talented individuals creating things using old fashioned hand-made skills and using old hand tools.
After watching the Turns film, I discovered that it is part of a series of short films titled “Life’s Work: Six Conversations with Makers“. A series based on the work of a handful of very passionate master craftsmen.
This series was produced by Breakwater Studios Ltd, and it:
… invites viewers inside the creative routines and personal stories of a collection of master craftspeople living on Canada’s Eastern Seaboard, whose life experiences have shaped their work in tandem with their own two hands. Each of the six short episodes documents the artistry of such crafts as stone carvin, wood turning and carving, sculpting, felting, and metalsmithing.
