Here is a picture of the broken throttle cable on my old Flymo petrol lawn mower. I have been using the lawn mower like this for quite a while and planning on buying a brand new throttle cable one day. To use the throttle as it is was a bit annoying and required me to hold the cable with one hand as I adjust the throttle lever with the other.
Well I’m glad I never got around to spending the money on a new cable. Today I realised that there was a very simple solution to my problem. And that solution is a “hose clamp”.
As you can see, the hose clap holds the cable in place, and now the throttle works perfectly. I’m not sure how much a new throttle cable would have cost me but the hose clamp solution cost me under $2.
